The truth is nobody really likes to wait. Whether we are waiting for the bus to come, or waiting for our future spouse, or waiting for a phone call…the process of waiting can be daunting because in general people don’t like to wait. But there are lessons in waiting that helps us mold our character.
What Waiting Teaches Us
1. Waiting teaches us about humility.
It teaches us about not to become entitled. In todayโs world we all want instant gratification. Waiting teaches us that life is not served on a Silver Platter.
2. Waiting teaches us about perseverance.
It teaches us that even if the answer is โnoโ at the moment, it does not mean that it is a โnoโ forever. Sometimes, we just need to grow as a person or we need to develop a certain skillset in order to get that dream job or dream role.
3. Waitinge teaches us about trust.
If mommy or daddy promises us that they will give what we asked for in due time, and we know that they have a word of honor, then we learn to trust more. Same goes to our Spiritual Life, when we trust the character of our God who promises us something, and we know that His character is faithful then we learn to wait patiently.
4. Waiting helps us to appreciate the things around us.
We learn to appreciate the people around us or the things around us because we are stuck. And we are stuck for a reason. Perhaps we need to learn a lesson or relearn a lesson. They say that if we did not really pay attention to the lesson, it will always come back to us perhaps with different people but the same lessons. We always go back to the problem until we learn and solve things differently.
5. Waiting will make us appreciate more of the things that we wait for.
The longer the wait, the more we get to appreciate that thing or person when it arrives, donโt you think.

While in โThe Waiting Roomโ
Write down all your wants, wishes and goals.
We can be intentional in our โgrowthโ during the tedious wait. Yes it helps if we plan. Write down the other things you want to accomplish. Donโt set it aside till tommorrow. Grab a pen or a notebook. Get a nice planner.
Embark on a Passion Project.
A passion project is something that is something you want to do to improve yourself. It can be publishing a blog, embarking on a new business, and even working out for a healthier version of yourself.
Travel.
They say that travelling makes a grow into a better person. Get a map and plan your next journey. Push Pin Travel Maps will help you visualize where you want to go next.
Invest on Personal Growth
Take courses which might interest you.
If you do not have time to attend to classes personally, take online courses. Future Learn and Coursera are great places to look into. They offer a wide-variety of courses. I have personally took courses with Future Learn and Coursera during the times I was waiting for a prayer to be answered.
If you want to learn more about blogging or social media growth, you might want to look into A Beautiful Mess Online Courses. They offer courses on how to publish a blog, how to make a podcast and even how to make your Instagram work for you.
The waiting place is not a useless place. It is a place to grow. It is where you will learn about humility, trust, appreciation and perseverance among others. It is a place where God can mold your heart if you allow him to. Right now, perhaps you are just waiting on the small things such as for the train to go or when will it arrive to your destination. But later, there will be bigger things to wait for. The Waiting Room is not a comfortable place but it is a place to help us grow. We can be productive during our โwaitโ.
